Elden Ring Black Flame Tornado Location, Stats & Build

One of the most gorgeous weapon arts in FromSoftware’s Elden Ring is the Black Flame Tornado. It belongs to one of the most powerful and terrifying bosses known as the Godskin.

The Black Flame Tornado embodies everything you’d expect from a Souls game – it’s dark, magical, and deadly enough to beat the toughest of enemies, which you’ll encounter a lot in the Lands Between.

Thankfully, there are tons of useful weapons, spells, and items scattered all over the map that can help you survive in this strange world.

Players have used the Black Flame Tornado to obliterate bosses like the Elden Beast and Malenia, Goddess of Rot in a matter of seconds.

If you want to know where you can get it, what it does, and how to use it, this guide tells you everything you need to know about the Black Flame Tornado in Elden Ring!

What is the Black Flame Tornado?

The Black Flame Tornado is a weapon skill that comes with the Godskin Peeler, a twinblade in Elden Ring. However, you can apply this skill to other polearms and twinblades using the Ash of War: Black Flame Tornado.

What is the Black Flame Tornado?

When activated, your character will twirl the chosen armament and strike it into the ground, summoning a whirlwind of black flames.

As we mentioned earlier, this weapon skill originated from the Godskin, who were children of the Gloam-Eyed Queen.

Together, the family became servants of Destined Death, a belief that every living being including gods, demigods, creatures, and Tarnished of the Lands Between should be able to die.

This source of power gave them the black flame, a flame so strong it could kill any god it touched.

Black Flame Tornado Location In Elden Ring

To get the Black Flame Tornado, you’ll need to find the Godskin Peeler. We have a guide here that tells you everything you need to know about this weapon, but if you’re only interested in its location, then keep on reading.

Black Flame Tornado Location In Elden Ring

The Godskin Peeler can be found after defeating the Godskin Apostle boss located at the Windmill Village in the Altus Plateau. To access this area, you’ll have to defeat Magma Wyrm Makar or activate the Great Lift of Dectus (which is easier).

Once you have reached the Altus Plateau, follow these steps to get to the Windmill Village:

  • Once you arrive at the Forest-Spanning Greatbridge, head north, and use Torrent to hop down across multiple platforms.
  • Get through the forest until you see windmills through the fog.
  • There, you’ll find an entrance that takes you to Dominula, Windmill Village.
  • There’s a site of grace on the left that you can activate. When you’re done, climb the stone steps and get past the dancing women.
  • At the very top, the Godskin Apostle awaits.
  • Once you have slain the Godskin Apostle, you’ll be rewarded the Godskin Peeler, an incantation, and 14,000 Runes.

Ash of War: Black Flame Tornado Location

If you prefer using the Black Flame Tornado on a different weapon, then you’ll have to defeat the Godskin Apostle again and the Godskin Noble.

The Godskin Duo can be found in the Dragon Temple of Crumbling Farum Azula, which can be accessed in several ways depending on what story path you’re taking.

If you’ve decided to burn the Erdtree, Melina will help you get to the Crumbling Farum Azula from the Forge of the Giants site of grace. If she doesn’t, select ‘listen to the sound of the flames’ and you’ll be dropped in that area right after the cutscene.

Another alternative is using the Imbued Sword Key to take a portal at the Foot of the Four Belfries to get to Farum Azula and using that same key to activate another portal under the third tower to get to the Crumbling Farum Azula.

Ash of War: Black Flame Tornado Location
  • Cross the bridge and drop down onto the balcony on the right side.
  • Go through the entrance and take the stairs leading down, hop onto the building and run past the corridors.
  • Keep moving straight and get past the dragon, go to the left entrance at the end of that area.
  • Rest at the Crumbling Beast Grave Depths site of grace and enter the building.
  • Go through the entrance on the right wall and turn right, keep running straight until you find a site of grace.
  • From the balcony, jump down into the collapsed platforms beneath it. Hug the left side until you reach another site of grace below.
  • Enter the Dragon Temple, where there is an enemy. Kill it or jump from the balcony to fight the Godskin Duo right away.
  • An easy way to cheese these guys is using the sleep effect, which they’re weak to. After defeating the Godskin Duo, they’ll drop the Ash of War: Black Flame Tornado, a bell bearing, and a lot of runes.

How do I use Ash of War: Black Flame Tornado?

To apply the Black Flame Tornado ash of war, you’ll need a whetstone knife and a red-hot whetblade. Rest at a site of grace and select ‘Ashes of War.’ Here, you can apply the skill to other weapons.

The Ash of War: Black Flame Tornado can be added to these weapon types:

  • Twinblades
  • Spears
  • Great Spears
  • Halberds
  • Reapers.
