What Does Vitality Do In Elden Ring?

What Does Vitality Do in Elden Ring

There are eight main attributes in Elden Ring that determine the strength and build of your characters, such as Vigor, Strength, Robustness, Arcane, and more.

However, Elden Ring is a hardcore RPG and it includes many other stats that players have to keep an eye on.

One of the most interesting stats in Elden Ring is Vitality, which can be confusing for many players at first because it does not seem to affect anything significant. But like all things in Elden Ring, Vitality is an important stat that everyone needs to understand in order to make the best out of their playthrough.

So, what does Vitality do in Elden Ring? How can you improve it? Let’s find out!

What is Vitality in Elden Ring?

Vitality is a Defensive Stat in Elden Ring. It increases your resistance to death, or more specifically Blight buildup. It’s not a very broad stat to use in the game since it only affects something so specific, but it’s still useful if you encounter and fight other players in Elden Ring often.

The higher the number of your Vitality is, the less likely the player is to die instantly in the game.

In case you’re unaware, Death Blight is a Status Effect in Elden Ring that can be applied to other players in the game. It does not work on non-Tarnished enemies and the player can’t apply it to themselves either.

The purpose of the Death Blight is to inflict Blight buildup on other players, which in turn kills them if their Blight buildup is completely filled. Thus, Vitality saves you from instant death in Elden Ring.

How to increase Vitality in Elden Ring

Vitality in Elden Ring can be increased through certain types of gear and passive effects. However, the best way to increase Vitality is to put points in your Arcane stat.

The Arcane stat in Elden Ring is directly tied to Vitality and your defense improves significantly as you level up. So, simply put points in Arcane every now and then to improve your Vitality.

But if you want to use the gear instead, some of the best items in Elden Ring that you can use to improve your Vitality are:

  • Grave Scythe (+35)
  • Prince of Death’s Pustule (+90)
  • Prince of Death’s Cyst (+140)
  • Lusat’s Set (the entire armor set has high Vitality)
  • Fia’s Set (several of the pieces of armor in this set have high vitality)
  • The Deathbed Dress
  • Pillory Shield (+50).

Summary

So, you can either use some of the aforementioned gear to increase your Vitality, or you can just put points in the Arcane stat.

You can do both at the same time too, but that’s not recommended because you don’t really need such a high number of Vitality in the game.

That’s everything that you need to know about the Vitality stat in Elden Ring! Now you know what it’s for and how you can increase it as much as you like.
