One of the most exciting features of Elden Ring is the Multiplayer component, which allows players to participate in both PvP and PvE content. Not only can you do things like fighting, but you can even leave messages for other players that they can read in their own worlds.
Since Elden Ring is a full-fledged RPG that does pull any punches, playing Multiplayer is not as easy as just clicking ‘Online’ on the menu. Instead, you need an item called ‘Tarnished’s Furled Finger’ for online-related things in the game.

What is the Tarnished Furled Finger in Elden Ring?
The Tarnished Furled Finger is an item that is meant exclusively for Multiplayer purposes. It allows players to leave messages for other players, initiate co-op gameplay, and fight against other players in PvP combat.
For co-op multiplayer, you have to leave a gold summon sign and then other players can see your sign in their world and summon you through the Furled Finger. For PvP, it’s similar. And for leaving messages, you just have to access your inventory and select the right option.
That’s everything that the Tarnished’s Furled Finger does. So, it’s an incredibly useful item for you to have in the game. Even things like duplicating weapons require this item since players have to come into your world for that.
It’s important to note that you’ll need the Finger Severer for some Multiplayer stuff too, such as to go back to your own world after being summoned in another’s.
Fortunately, you can find the Finger Severer in the exact place as Tarnished’s Furled Finger, so you don’t have to look for them Separately.
Elden Ring Tarnished’s Furled Finger Location
Getting the Tarnished Furled Finger is very easy and can be done very early on in the game.
Funnily enough, you can still miss it if you’re not paying attention. But now that you’re here, you’re about to find out where exactly you can pick it up from – which is in the first hour of your gameplay!
- When you start your Elden Ring playthrough, the ‘starting area’ is where you’ll spawn.
- Go to the area that is past the big wooden door and go past the Site of Grace as well.
- You’ll find a dead body and once you loot the remains, you’ll receive a Tarnished’s Furled Finger, and a Finger Severer too.
That’s everything that you need to know about this item. Either you picked it up along the way and did not notice, or you just missed it. In case you did miss it, simply go back to the location in the game and pick it up – there will be no extra steps required.
