Elden Ring Divine Fortification (Complete Guide)

Elden Ring Divine Fortification Guide

Just like any Souls game, it takes a hundred times to beat any boss in Elden Ring. It might make you want to pull your hair out, but what makes the game so remarkable is that the frustration easily turns into satisfaction once you have slain a beast.

As Sun Tzu said in The Art of War, “Know the enemy and yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles.” Having a strategy is one of the essential ways to approach an enemy, and getting a good line of defense is one of them.

If you have gone further into the dark and whimsical world of The Lands Between, then you already know that certain types of enemies deal certain types of damage

Enemies who serve Destined Death or have been blessed by the Erdtree deal huge amounts of Holy Damage, especially against those who try to subdue the demigods who have claimed the Elden Ring shards.

For those who don’t know, holy damage is a type of elemental damage that is granted to players and enemies alike. It’s great for eliminating weak foes or battling off the undead.

There are a plethora of ways to negate holy damage such as using certain armor or consuming Holyproof Dried Liver. But one of the most effective methods is getting Divine Fortification, especially if you’re facing off against the final boss.

Divine Fortification is a Two Fingers Incantation that temporarily cloaks the caster in a powerful protective spell, increasing the Tarnished’s resistance to holy damage.

Here’s everything you need to know about Divine Fortification in Elden Ring!

Where to Find Divine Fortification In Elden Ring

There is only one way you can obtain this incantation: hunt down and destroy a Teardrop Scarab in the northern regions of the Weeping Peninsula.

Teardrop Scarabs are non-hostile beetles that drop valuable items when destroyed, and the rarer item drops depend on where they’re located. Since we’re trying to get Divine Fortification, our goal is to get to Tombsward Ruins.

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to get to Tombsward Ruins:

Here is a step-by-step guide on how to get to Tombsward Ruins:
  • Quite literally, start off by going to The First Step and going east to Agheel Lake South.
  • Make your way to the Bridge of Sacrifice, it’s located further below the lake.
  • Once you get to the bridge, thread all the way down the crossroads until you reach the South of the Lookout Tower.
  • Now that you’re in the forest, it’s all uphill from there.  All you have to do is make your journey straight towards the Tombsward Ruins, standing right beside the Weeping Evergaol.

  • Climb on top of the collapsed structures and there you’ll be greeted with the little balls that are Teardrop Scarabs. Be careful, as they begin to flicker and flee if you fail to eliminate them quickly enough. So be fast!
  • This should be easy, once they are successfully destroyed, the Teardrop Scarab will give you Divine Fortification.

Where to Find Lord’s Divine Fortification

Apart from the regular Divine Fortification, there is a special variation of the incantation that you can get only after defeating Malenia, Blade of Miquella.

He can be found at Miquella’s Haligtree located to the north of the Mountaintops of the Giants. This special incantation was taught to Gideon the All-Knowing by the Two Fingers. If you haven’t gotten through this part yet, come back to this article once you have defeated that boss.

But if you already have, we can now move on to these next steps.

  • After defeating Malenia, Blade of Miquella, talks to Sir Gideon Ofnir in the Roundtable library. Here, he briefly talks to the Tarnished about the Haligtree roots.
  • Once he’s done talking, he will now reward you Lord’s Divine Fortification.
  • Optional: If you’ve already killed Gideon Ofnir during his boss encounter, fear not. You can still purchase Lord’s Divine Incantation from Twin Maiden Husks at Roundtable Hold for 3500 Runes!
