Pokemon Sword/Shield: How to Get Zarude

Pokemon Sword/Shield: How to Get Zarude

Pokémon RPGs have come a long way, let alone the Pokémon Franchise itself. Sword and Shield had big shoes to fill, and in my opinion, it is a truly great new addition to the series.

Sword and Shield manage to keep the aspects of the game intact while improving upon certain aspects. And if you’re an old Pokémon Gamer, I don’t have to tell you just how far this game series has come.

Pancham Pokemon Go: How to Catch, Evolve, Best Counters, MovesetThere are a lot of guides for this game on the internet and information is easy to come by, even for new players.

But the one thing that most new players are not aware of is that you can get Mystic Pokémons in this game if you’ve been paying attention.

Much to our disappointment, Mystic Pokémons are very hard to obtain. The only way to obtain them is through limited-time events.

Among these rare gems is the terrifying Pokémon named Zarude.

Everything You Need to Know About Zarude

Zarude is a grass-type Pokémon, standing an inch short of 6ft and weighing 154 pounds, this Pokémon is as vicious as it looks. And if you think just one looks scary, imagine a pack of them because they are accustomed to roaming in packs.

It can wrap around trees and enemies with the vines that it grows from the back of its neck in a very creepy manner. These vines are also useful for healing, Which makes because Zarude’s signature move is Jungle Healing.

Zarude Catching Guide For Pokémon Sword and Shield

The bad news is that you actually can’t find Zarude in your standard gameplay. Japanese players had the luxury of obtaining this beautiful Pokémon during the release of “Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle”.

And since you can’t reasonably turn back time and become Japanese, there are some unusual ways to get this Pokémon.

The first thing you can do is check out the retail stores in your specific country that will send you a coupon code after obtaining Pokémon Sword and Shield.

For most of you, this store will be Gamestop and the method of buying will be either in person or online depending on COVID-19 regulations. As of 2022, this code can only be obtained if you use a VPN and make sure that your IP is in Germany.

You could’ve also received the coupon code for Zarude by signing up for the Pokémon Trainer Club Newsletter but sadly that particular offer expired in September last year.

Stats for Zarude in Pokémon Sword and Shield

Zarude has some pretty impressive stats, which makes sense because it’s a Mystic Pokémon.

It is a Dark/Grass-type Pokémon. Below are the base stats for Zarude.

  • Attack: 120
  • Defense: 105
  • Special Attack: 70
  • Special Defense: 95
  • Speed: 105
  • Health Points: 105

The main moves this Pokémon possesses are Close Combat, Snarl, Power Whip, and Swagger. But what I want to talk about is Jungle Healing, which is the move that sets this Pokémon apart.

Zarude is currently the only Pokémon in the games that can use this move. Jungle Healing heals the team as well as removes any lingering status conditions.

Conclusion

The future status of Zarude or even other Mystic Pokémons such as Zacian or Zamazenta is unknown.

I realize why these Pokémons are locked from the base game, and to some extent, it probably does promote the games in ways that my tiny brain can’t comprehend.

But the fact remains that it is unfair to gamers to lock out Pokémons, especially gamers that were late to the party and have no way of obtaining them. Hopefully, in the future, they’ll come up with a better way to incentivize us.
