Astral alignment is a new seasonal activity introduced by Bungie studios to Destiny 2 as a part of the season of the lost. This will be featured in the game at least for 5-6 months more, i.e till next year February 2022.
The seasonal activity has a lot of fans hyped!
When you get into the event it takes you to the blind well where you are assigned to complete specific tasks which will help your progression in the game. As for the event, it is a 6-player co-op event, so you’ll be needing the help of five more players including you.
But as the game got this update, many players started reporting problems regarding the progression in the game. There is a certain bug that is restricting them from progressing in the game even after completing the assigned tasks.
The game is getting soft-locked because of this bug and players are frustrated.
What is the Destiny 2 Astral Alignment bug?
Bungie’s Destiny 2 never holds back when adding new events and features to the game when it comes to the new season. But not everything is good for Bungie, as more and more features make their way to the game, they are also accompanied by uninvited bugs and issues that plague the game.
One such bug has made its way to the activity in the event. The bug surfaces when the player is destroying all the wisps in the ether collection encounter of the Astral Alignment activity. In that case, the player ends up unknowingly soft-locking the game, barring their progression in the process.
When the bug was first realized by the players, they were furious, obviously. But Bungie soon made a statement and assured the players that the issue would be resolved as fast as possible. Until then, they also gave us a workaround for the bug, which would stop the game from getting soft-locked!
How to fix the Destiny 2 Astral Alignment bug?
It is good to see that the studio actually came out and made an official statement about the games and provided a neat little workaround for those who want to complete the task regardless of the issue. This can be done by simply restarting the activity.
Once you’ve restarted the activity, unlike before, avoid destroying all the wisps in the Ether Collection encounter.
As this was the feature that was causing the bug, if you just don’t bother wasting all of them, the bug shouldn’t be a problem for you, and you should be able to play usually.
The studio also went out of its way to disable the ether collection encounter of the astral alignment activity so that players don’t get bothered by it. As this activity was responsible for soft locking the game, there wouldn’t be an issue if it was barred from the player.
This is a quick fix, but eventually, a patch is needed, which Bungie put out recently.
Hotfix released
August 28 update: The Bungie studios made new information about the astral alignment bug public recently. The players stuck in the battery portion needed to go back to the orbit to restart the activity.
September 3 update: This new hotfix should fix the bug that the studio just released recently. The patch sheds light on the issue and claims to have completely gotten rid of the bug.
However, some players were still facing the case, but we already have a workaround, so it shouldn’t be a problem.
