1. Smite

It’s worth noting, though, that if you only use axes on wood, then it might not be a useful choice because wood already does not change its shape and form once harvested.
3. Sharpness

Chopping is one of the more recent enchantments compared to the others that have been around since almost always – but it’s already something useful enough to be on number 3. It increases the damage of your axe and adds the ability to have a higher rate of shield stuns as well.
It’s a great choice for people who like to use axes offensively and helps a lot with hordes that contain shielded enemies, so offensive players should always keep an eye out for it.
6. Efficiency
Efficiency is one of the most useful enchantments to have on your axe because it makes it significantly quicker to farm resources. In a game all about building, have an enchantment that lets you break blocks much faster than the default rate, it’s the best thing that you could possibly equip.
There is a downside, though, as it will cause the axe to break faster too. So, think of it as fast-forward for both your axe and the blocks that you are breaking. Fortunately, you can combine Efficiency with Mending and Unbreakable enchantments to take care of the faster decay-rate.
7. Mending
Mending, in our experience, is the best enchantment for axes in Minecraft. That is because it makes the axe that you enchant with it nearly indestructible – allowing you to use it for as long as you like without having to worry about them dying.
While alone, it does not boost any stats for you besides the long life of your weapon, but if you combine it with something like Efficiency, then you can have an extremely convenient build that lets you break large structures with ease.
