Moltres is from the Kanto region, the 1st generation of Pokemon games; it was introduced alongside the other two legendary birds, Articuno and Zapdos. These three birds were depicted as God-like beings in the anime, and in the game, and catching them was hard.

As Moltres is a Fire and a Flying-type, it takes super effective damage from Rock-type moves. It can also be overpowered by using water and electric type moves, but just to be on the safe side, you should only use strong rock type moves when in a battle with Moltres.

As it is a raid battle, you’ll have to have a backup with you. It is recommended you take at least 4 players with you to a boss battle involving Moltres, as it can get tricky if you go in underprepared.

The best counters to use against Moltres are – Rampardos, Rhyperior, Terrakion, Tyranitar, Gigalith, Landarous (both forms), Aerodactyly, Golem, Regirock, Blastoise, Golem (Alola), Agrron, Zekrom,  Lunastone, solrock, Kyogre, Rayquaza, and any other pokemon that has access to solid rock type moves.

The moves to use when fighting Moltres can be – Rock throw, waterfall, smackdown, etc.

Moltres has access to many moves, and many players like to come up with their own strategies for the Pokemon to have an element of surprise; you can do that as well, but it is advised to have a moveset that inflicts a lot of damage to the opponent.

Moltres has access to a lot of Fire-type moves and some others as well. The list of moves is Fire spin, wing attack, overheat, fireblast, heatwave, and ancient power. You can only have two moves from the above list.

When choosing a moveset, it is crucial to get the one with the highest DPS. For Moltres, that moveset looks something like this – Fire spin + Sky attack. You can also go with Fire spin + Overheat if you want fire moves only.
