The Lab in Lost Ark is one of the most important parts of the game as it helps you make larger ships and new crafting recipes. So, that’s both improvements and better versions of things altogether.
There are several factors that determine the level of your lab in Lost Ark, such as the level of your Stronghold since the Lab is located inside it. And since the Lab has so many benefits, it’s always a great idea to level it up as much as possible.

How to Get Lab Level to 3 in Lost Ark
You have to do a bunch of different things to get your Lab to level 3. However, you need to understand one major thing first.
The Lab in Lost Ark is connected to your Stronghold. The more you level up your stronghold, the more your Lab (and accompanying buildings) become better, and more research is unlocked.
So, to level up your lab, you’ll need to learn how to level up your Stronghold, and then you should stock up on resources.
How to level up Stronghold in Lost Ark
As explained above, if you want your Lab to reach Level 3 in Lost Ark, you have to level up your Stronghold. And to do that, you have to do lots of activities that will gain you experience for your Stronghold. Here’s how to do it:
- Complete all Stronghold tutorials – Pretty self-explanatory. Just complete every tutorial that Lost Ark has for Strongholds.
- Complete Weeklies – Participate in weekly Stronghold quests, which are specifically meant to improve it.
- Send out ships to expeditions – If you don’t have good ships already, make some. Then send them off on expeditions.
- Research items and topics – This is related to the Lab, so it’s killing two birds with one stone.
- Crafting items – Craft as many items as you can.
To check if your Stronghold is adequate for upgrading your facilities, head over to the Lab and click on the ‘Available Research’ section.
Change it to ‘All Research’ and it will tell you the requirements of those researches that you can’t access yet, which will let you know what level you are.
Once you reach Stronghold Level 15, you can upgrade your Lab to Level 3.

How to unlock the Stronghold in Lost Ark
If you’re a new player and don’t know how to unlock the Stronghold – it’s simple!
You need to complete the quest “Clerk Theo’s Invitation” and then the Stronghold is given to you automatically. You will approximately be close to Level 26-27 when this happens.
