For a franchise called Dark Souls, the currency in the games called Souls is rather fitting. Given how difficult the game is, you’ll always need to level up and buy many upgrades for your character’s different states.
While the game is not exactly scarce in terms of the Soul currency, it still takes a bit of a grind since you’ll be spending them often due to how many different uses they have.
You’ll need Souls to buy upgrades for your swords, armor, leveling up, and to buy any items from the shop that you wish to have which includes things needed for the game’s multiplayer capabilities too.
So, it’s important to know how to keep your pockets full of them and the best way to do that is to manually farm for them.
Of course, not every place in the game is designed in the same way, so there are specific spots where you can farm more Souls than anywhere else – but the game has a large world and it can take a while to figure out how to find them.

10. The Sewer Centipedes
If you go towards the Distant Manor Bonfire, you can find a chamber beneath Irythill which is full of Sewer Centipedes that you can fight. These creepy creatures are not as difficult to take down as you might expect but they drop 750 souls each.
While this may sound small by itself – there’s a plural in their name.
Kill as many of them as you can and you’ll eventually leave with a lot of souls. They’re easy to kill and you can increase the souls that you get by using the right harvesting gear. So, if you’re not in the mood of fighting complicated enemies, this is a good place to go.
9. Ringed Knights
While everyone should have the Game of The Year edition by now, if you’re still using the base version of the game then you’ll have to skip this spot because it’s only accessible in The Ringed City DLC.
Around the Ringed City Streets Bonfire, you will find four Ringed Knights exclusive to this DLC and you can kill them for approximately 15,000 souls each which combines to be a really good amount overall.
You can even make that number higher by equipping certain items that increase the number of souls you get, so the potential is high.
The only reason this is lower on the list is because of the fact it’s DLC and killing four knights at once is not an easy task. But being close to the Bonfire means you can collect your souls easily if killed, so that’s a plus.
8. Archdragon Peak
If you’re in the mood to rack up a very large number of souls, then this is exactly what you’ve been looking for. First, you have to go to the Dragonkin Mausoleum Bonfire and the first room you enter from there has a Serpent-Sorcerer who summons Drakeblood Knights and Havel the Rock.
If you kill Havel the Rock, the summoner can’t bring him back – while the Drakeblood Knights will be summoned infinitely and can be killed for 4000 souls each – which combines to be close to a million if you’ve got the time and effort to put into it.
As the saying goes, the sky’s the limit for this method.
7. Anor Londo Bonfire
This is quite a popular grinding spot due to the fact that it’s right next to a Bonfire and allows you to go back to the spot of the fight right away in case you die. All you have to do is to walk up to the frozen gates of Anor Londo and on top of the stairs will be two knights.
They can be killed quite easily and you can even use fall damage against them, which makes this one of the quickest methods of farming souls. They drop different types of equipment too, which you can then sell for more profit.
6. Grand Archives Knights
The Grand Archives is a pretty popular level which fans love visiting for soul farming, but there’s actually a quicker way not everyone knows about.
If you take an elevator to the right and go to the roof of the Grand Archives, you will find three Winged Knights who you can fight and kill. Even without any harvesting items, you can easily get 13,000 souls each from killing them.
They’re difficult but you can separate them and take on one of them at a time which makes it quite simpler. Furthermore, intelligence levels and pyromancy items really provide you with an advantage in this fight.
5. The Profaned Capital
Through the Irythill Dungeon (which has lots of enemies if this is your first time playing), you can get into the ruins of the Profaned Capital.
This area has Jailers and Gargoyles that you can fight outside the boss arena for Yhorm the Giant and it grants you lots of souls once you’re done. There are no specific tips for this fight and it’s not particularly difficult, so just try not to get cornered.
4. The Church of Yorshka
Once you leave the Church of Yorshka from the main entrance if you turn left you can drop towards a Boreal Immolator. Once you’re done fighting through the two Boreal Knights in the area, you can lay down you summon sign to summon one of the most difficult bosses of the game, Pontiff Sulyvahn.
While this boss is optional for you to summon, it’s very beneficial because he drops a lot of souls. And if you want to keep going, you can fall off the ledge in the opposite direction of the boss arena.
There you can fight one more knight and after you kill it, you can go back to the stairs and climb back to the church – which essentially starts a loop that you can use as many times as you like.
3. Drakeblood Knight
If you go to the Archdragon Peak, you can fight a unique Drakeblood Knight that drops 4000 souls once killed. But interestingly – that’s just the beginning.
The knight is infinitely summoned by the Man-Serpent Summoner in the area and you can kill the knight as many times as you like, which of course, increases how much you gain.
To make things even better, if you get behind him once he’s being summoned and stab him a few times with a heavy weapon, it dries quickly. This makes the entire grind loop very efficient.
2. Soul of Cinder
The final boss of Dark Souls 3 might not be what comes to your mind when thinking of finding a soul-farming location, but it’s a very interesting one if you think about co-op gameplay.
Killing the boss will give you a great number of souls, so fighting him multiple times is very helpful.
What you can do is drop your sign and wait for a player to join. And unlike other places in the game that get fewer summons now because the game is getting older in 2024– a lot of people are always looking forward to killing the boss so you don’t have to worry about that part.
1. Lothric Castle Bonfire
This is a very easy method both for new players and those who want a simple grind that doesn’t require too much effort – which makes it an all-rounder worthy of this spot.
You simply have to run between the first two Bonfires that you can find on the High Wall of Lothric and you’ll find many enemies.
Some of the enemies are kneeling in prayer so you can kill them without them attacking you first and you can fight more enemies too which all drop souls. Additionally, you can equip harvest gear that increases the drop ratio of the souls to make the number higher too.
