There are many ways to make money in the realm of GTA Online, from daring heists that save mankind from global destruction to selling illegal contraband items across the back alleys of Los Santos and Blaine County. One of the most lucrative, however, is by becoming the Chief Executive Officer of your own Organisation.
Introduced in the Executives and Other Criminals update back in December 2015, this has now become a great way to bag a financially healthy payday, especially as a solo player who is operating without a crew.
To become a CEO though requires some work and investment, as there are certain prerequisites you’ll have to meet before you can gain this exclusive title.
What You’ll Need to Register As A CEO In GTA 5
Just to clarify (and at the risk of stating the obvious), becoming a CEO is only an option for GTA Online and your silent online protagonist. Michael, Franklin, or Trevor cannot not apply for such a position.
Anyway, to first become a CEO, you’ll need an Executive Office to conduct your highly illicit dealings and affairs. This can be done in the normal Free Roam world of GTA Online, and can be set up in any type of lobby (Crew Session, Invite Only, etc.) except a Solo Session.
Executive Offices differ from the standard properties in that they don’t just provide a place for you to store your many exotic sports cars and get some hard earned rest after a long day spent street racing. They open up the opportunity to earn huge amounts of cash by completing Special Cargo, Vehicle Cargo, and Vehicle Warehouse missions.
To purchase an Office, open up the web app on your iFruit phone and head to Dynasty 8 Executive. Click on the image on the right that says “Check out our new range of iconic offices”. Here you’ll be met with a map of San Andreas showing the different offices available to purchase. The cheapest option of which is located at Maze Bank West in Del Perro for $1,000,000.
It is very important to note that while they range dramatically in price (with the most expensive coming in at $4,000,000) there is no difference in the cheapest to the most expensive Office, only the location is affected. You will not receive a “better” office by paying a higher price. With that in mind, the wisest decision is to go with the aforementioned Maze Bank West property.
A small side note, should you change your mind and want to alter your Office’s location, you can only own one Office at any one time. Purchasing a new Office while owning one already will get you back 50% of the money used for the base Office purchase and a further 50% spent on upgrades.
While we’re on the subject, almost all of the “upgrades” (if you can call them that) are purely cosmetic, with things like the Safe being one of the most notoriously useless purchases in the whole game, so there’s no need to spend any money on extras. Purchasing the “Accommodation” is the only useful aspect as it will allow you to set your Office as a spawn location.
Actually Becoming a CEO
Okay, you’re now the proud owner of an Executive Office and you should receive a welcome text from the SecuroServ company informing you of your new purchase. You’re just a few clicks away from becoming a CEO.
Open up the Interaction Menu (hold down the View Button for Xbox One or use the Touchpad on PS4) and use the D-pad to scroll down to the “SecuroS erv” option. Select this option and then select “Register as CEO”. It’s as easy as that.
What You Can Do as a CEO
When acting as a CEO, you’ll gain more options in your Interaction Menu. Now when you open it up, you’ll see your first option says “SecuroServ CEO”. Select this option to see the things you can do as the newly formed head of your organisation.
You can hire, fire, and manage associates, launch VIP Work (a great way to make quick cash), start VIP Challenges if you have associates, gain CEO benefits like calling in a fancy helicopter or getting the law to turn a blind eye to you, and have special vehicles delivered to you.
The final option in this list is “Retire”, which will stop you from acting as a CEO so you can start a Motorcycle Club which has different benefits to them.
