Neverwinter Best Races, Ranked (2024)

Neverwinter Best Races

Neverwinter is one of the best MMORPGs that you can play in 2024 and what sets it apart from many other games in the genre is that it’s based on a modified version of the Dungeons & Dragons rules set. Mainly the 4th and 5th editions.

The game features eight unique classes that you can play as and there are several races that you can select too. All of these diverse classes and races in Neverwinter have gameplay differences.

This means that there is something that suits every playstyle, leaving no type of gamer out.

Naturally, not every character in Neverwinter is created equal. Some races suit certain classes better and that provides a bit of an advantage to players. It can take a long time to try out different combinations to figure out which ones are the best.

Best Races in Neverwinter, Ranked

Here are the latest and greatest Neverwinter races in 2024.

1. Dragonborn

The Dragonborn race in Neverwinter is arguably the most desired race in the game. It’s compatible with a lot of the classes in the game. And it offers great benefits that give you a decent advantage in terms of gameplay and stats.

As a Dragonborn, you receive 5% more healing than usual, 3% more chances of a critical strike, 3% power, and a +2 addition to the Ability Score.

As for the classes, Dragonborn works best with Fighter, Paladin, and Barbarian.

The only catch here is that Dragonborn is a paid race. You cannot obtain it free even by grinding, you have to manually purchase it. It’s no surprise that the best race in the game is paid, but it sure is a bummer.

2. Dwarf and Half-Orc

Dwarf and Half-Orc

The Dwarf and Half-Orc races are both equally excellent, despite being one of the earliest additions to Neverwinter.

The Dwarf comes with +2 Constitution, and +2 Strength (or +2 Wisdom). They are great at fighting and pretty decent for defense as well. Especially since they have a 20% resistance stat.

The Dwarf race works best with the Barbarian, Paladin, and Fighter classes.

Half-Orc

The Half-Orc on the other hand is like the Human class but much better. It comes with +2 Dexterity, and +2 Constitution or +2 Strength based on the player’s preference. They are brutes and are great at combat, which makes them pretty decent for a medium build that leans a bit on the tank side.

The Half-Orc race works best with the Rogue, Paladin, and Fighter classes.

3. Half-Elf & Sun-Elf

Half-Elf & Sun-Elf

If you’re looking for races that are easy to jump into and can be a great Wizard, Warlock, Cleric, or Paladin – then the Half-Elf & Sun-Elf are a great choice.

The Moon-Elf is pretty useful, but they cost $60 dollars and aren’t a massive advantage over Half-Elf & Sun-Elf. Wood Elves are kind of decent but are compatible with much fewer classes than Half and Sun Elves are.

The Half-Elf comes with +2 Constitution, +2 Charisma, or +2 Wisdom, based on the player’s choice. They are a great combo between Humans and Elves and come with decent stats that are easy to manage.

They are particularly great Clerics, Paladins, and Wizards, so you should go with a Half-Elf if you like these classes.

sun elf neverwinter classes

The Sun Elf comes with +2 Intelligence and either +2 Dexterity or +2 Charisma. They are known as a calm race and are best for classes like Wizard, Cleric, and Warlock. They’re not as much of all-rounders as the Half-Elf, but some of their stats might suit certain play styles better.

4. Tiefling

Tiefling best neverwinter races

Tieflings are a demonic race that are magic-based races that come with a +2 Charisma and +2 Constitution (or intelligent) bonus. They work best with classes such as Wizards and Rogues. They’re particularly good as Rogues, too – not just average.

So, if you’re looking for a race that has a bit of an evil feel to it, then this is the way to go. With a 5% additional damage to targets that have half their health and a 10% chance for a temporary damage resistance ability, you’ll be very good to go.

The classes that did not make it to our top 4 and aren’t mentioned as inferior versions of our ranking include Menzoberranzan Renegade, Halfling, and Drow. They’re not bad classes, but there are reasons they were left out.

For example, Menzoberranzan is paid-only. Unlike Dragonborn, Menzoberranzan is not worth the price tag for anyone who doesn’t just very specifically want them as other races are just as decent with the classes that it’s meant for.

Whereas Halfling and Drow just do the same things as the classes we already mentioned.

It’s worth noting though that the Drow race is great for any DPS-based build, but that’s just not very specific to go by.

And that’s it for our guide of the best Neverwinter races, ranked in 2024 with the latest updates in mind. We hope that you found the best race for your character and while you’re here, make sure to check out some of our other helpful articles too!
