Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe vs Standard: What’s The Difference?

Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe vs Standard

Hogwarts Legacy makes our childhood dreams come true by bringing us to the iconic Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It’s an open-world RPG set in the magical world of the Harry Potter franchise.

Here, players get sorted into a Hogwarts house, meet various friendly and not-so-friendly faces, learn new spells and brew potions, and decide whether to become the hero or the villain.

That being said, you might wonder which edition of the game gives you the full wizarding world experience. Players can choose between the Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition of Hogwarts Legacy as with many other games.

The Deluxe Edition includes more bonuses, additional content, and clothing items. But is it worth paying the extra bucks for? Let’s find out!

Hogwarts Legacy Standard Edition

The Standard Edition of Hogwarts Legacy comes with the base game itself. You won’t be missing out on the story or gameplay with this edition.

If you pre-ord Hogwarts Legacy on your PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch, you’ll get the Onyx Hippogriff as a reward. If you didn’t, don’t sweat! You still get to ride a Hippogriff during the “To The High Keep” quest and keep riding it afterward. The only difference between the Hippogriff and the Onyx Hippogriff is their appearance.

Lastly, the Standard Edition of Hogwarts Legacy also includes PlayStation Exclusive content such as the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest and a Felix Felicis Potion Recipe, a potion that makes whoever drinks the potion lucky for a certain amount of time.

The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest will be exclusive to PlayStation users for a year since the game’s official release.

Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition

The Deluxe Edition of Hogwarts Legacy has everything the Standard Edition does – the Onyx Hippogriff, and PlayStation Exclusive content such as the Felix Felicis Potion Recipe and the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop Quest. It also has everything the Standard Edition doesn’t, and it has to do with the Dark Arts.

If you find yourself gravitating toward the dark side, you will want to purchase this edition because it includes the Thestral Mount, Dark Arts Cosmetics Set, and Dark Arts Battle Arena.

If you didn’t know, Thestrals are magical winged-horse beasts that can only be seen by people who have witnessed death. You basically make yourself cool by riding the horse of death.

The Cosmetics Set includes a black set of clothes adorned with skulls and smoke, making you look more intimidating than other students, including Slytherins. Last but not least, players get to wield Unforgivable curses at swarms of enemies at the Dark Arts Battle Arena, which can be found in the Forbidden Forest.

Prior to the game’s release, players with the Deluxe Edition had 72 hours of early access on the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC only. For the Digital Deluxe Edition of Hogwarts Legacy, players get access to the Dark Arts Garrison Hat along with the Dark Arts Pack.

The verdict is that the difference between the Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition of Hogwarts Legacy is not entirely huge, most of it is purely cosmetic.

We’re not here to tell you to buy a particular version, the decision is ultimately yours to make. Some features are only accessible to pre-orders of the game, so buying either the Standard Edition or Deluxe Edition right now doesn’t mean you’ll get access to everything.

However, there are many things that Hogwarts Legacy has to offer that missing out on a few of these features isn’t really a big deal, well, unless you’re eager to play the Dark Arts Battle Arena.
