League of Legends: The Best Ways to Get Gemstones

League of Legends: The Best Way to Get Gemstones

League of Legends is arguably one of the most popular MOBA games of all time. And if you’re anything like me, you have a love/hate relationship with this game.

League of Legends can make you want to smash your head repeatedly with heavy mining equipment, and meanwhile, you’ve been playing the game for so long that you don’t know if it’s AM or PM.

This is in no way an attempt to push you away from League of Legends; it’s merely my humorous attempt at describing what regular players of this game feel.

But this article is primarily for newcomers. It can be pretty tricky to understand what gemstones exactly are if you’re mainly focused on learning how to play the game.

So here is all you need to know about Gemstones in League of Legends.

Gemstones: What they are and why you should care

This may come as a surprise to you, but there is a crafting element in League of Legends.

The concept is pretty simple. Actually, you collect crafting materials in numerous ways. Those materials can be used to forge Hextech Keys and Chest Bundles, even rare skins.

Now Hextech keys are simply keys that can be used to open Hextech Chest, which contains skins, crafting materials, and much more.

Now there are many ways to obtain gems in this game. You can get them from Hextech Chests, but the drop rate is just 3.6%, so I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you. But this is a free option once you get an S rank; you can also pay for it in the RP store if you have money to spend.

Another way to obtain gemstones is front he Masterwork Chests (which are much better than Hextech Chests).

Gems are rewarded after you reach level 150 and for every 50 subsequent summoner levels.

There are also special events where you are offered gemstones in exchange for something. Also, the rates differ depending on the event and type of gemstone.

The easiest ways to get Gemstones in LoL

There is a straightforward and fast method of obtaining Gemstones, but you will not like it. The technique is simply buying it from the Riot Store.

I realize that this is not an option for many people (including me), But it’s a bitter pill that we have to swallow.

My only advice for obtaining as many gemstones as you can is simply to get as many Hextech and Masterwork Chests as you can (Hextech Chest being easier to obtain). This means having as S-Ranks in your gameplay as possible.

And if you’re playing with teammates, you know, make sure they honor you after every game. Playing with Randoms is where it might get a little tricky, but in my experience, if you behave decently, you can hope that they won’t screw you over.

The gemstone used in League of Legends

The primary use of having Gemstones is getting skins. There are different types of skins in the game, some may be event exclusive, and some can only be obtained through the Hextech Lineup.

At this point, I’m sure many of you are wondering if this is all even worth it. And honestly, it depends on who you’re asking.

Does having cool skins matter to you? Will it motivate you? It does give you some sense of accomplishment (significantly if you’ve invested hundreds of hours in this game). They’re not necessary to have, and having them doesn’t mean you’re a better player, but they do look cool.
