Elden Ring is a game that is rich with role-playing elements, which include things like classes, lots of gear, and unique character attributes to max out.

One of the main attributes in Elden Ring is Dexterity, which is one of the important stats in any Souls game. Whenever you’re about to find a weapon or wish to create a certain build, you’re going to have to look at the attributes that it requires.

And more often than not, Dexterity will be found as a requirement for the weapons and builds that you have in mind.

So, what does Dexterity do in Elden Ring? How useful is it and what is its maximum level cap? Let’s find out.

What is Dexterity in Elden Ring?

Dexterity is the main attribute in Elden Ring, which is required to wield certain weapons (armaments). Although only a specific amount of Dexterity is required to wield weapons, you gain additional scaling boosts if your Dexterity level is higher.

Not only that, but Dexterity can also reduce the casting time of specific Spells, reduces fall damage, and makes it more difficult for enemies to knock you off your horse.

To give a rough idea, weapons that require Dexterity to be wielded usually have a requirement of 12 Dexterity in order to be equipped. But for more advanced weapons, you will need more points.

And of course, you will need Strength, Faith, and Arcane points alongside Dexterity for certain weapons and spells too.

What is Dexterity useful for in Elden Ring?

Every time you find a weapon that has Dexterity as a requirement, you can look for its scaling. If the weapon has a Dexterity scaling of S, it will benefit from having higher Dexterity points.

As briefly mentioned above, having high Dexterity and gear that is compatible with it can give you boosts in attack, reduces the likelihood of your character getting knocked, and reduces the casting time for spells too.

There are also other smaller bonuses that you will learn of throughout the game – such as reduced fall damage.

The Max Cap for Dexterity stat in Elden Ring

The Hard Cap for Dexterity in Elden Ring is Level 99.

The first Soft Cap is Level 20, the second Soft Cap is level 55, and the third Soft Cap is level 80.

Reaching level 99 is not necessary and in most cases being 55 or 60 is more than enough. That too if you have a Dexterity heavy build. If not, then you need even lower Dexterity and should put more points in what stats you need more.

For example, Faith and Intelligence if your build is more specific to spellcasting.
