Hogwarts Legacy is a game about magic, witches, and wizards. And when you combine these three things together, your experience cannot be complete without flying brooms. After all, it’s the preferred method of transportation for the world of Harry Potter – far more convenient than any sports car that money can buy.

While it’s a bummer that Quidditch is excluded in Hogwarts Legacy, you can still unlock flying brooms and travel through the game’s world just like Harry Potter himself. And if you don’t like the broom that you get at first, you can easily upgrade it to a better one too.

Interestingly, Hogwarts Legacy does not immediately give a player a flying broom. For many of the game’s early stories, you have to traverse the school by just walking around its magical hallways. With how expansive the game’s world is, you can’t help but wonder ‘when do I get the flying broom’?

Worry not, we’re here to save the day. Here’s our quick guide for unlocking the flying brooms and upgrading them in Hogwarts Legacy!

"How

How to Get the Flying Broom in Hogwarts Legacy

Even though you can unlock fast traveling later on in Hogwarts Legacy – it does not beat the majestic feeling of soaring through the skies of the Wizarding World on a flying broom.

Thus, it’s important to know when to get a flying broom at the earliest point in the game. Fortunately, it’s pretty easy and just takes a few simple steps.

Two important things to note are:

  • The early-game brooms cost 600 Gold each, so it’s a good idea to stock up on some money first (you can earn it by selling extra gear or opening Chests)

  • You cannot fly a broom in a No-Fly Zone – which is highlighted as a symbol next to your minimap.

Step 1 – Complete the Jackdaw’s Rest quest

The first step is pretty simple. You have to play Hogwarts Legacy’s main story until you complete the Jackdaw’s Rest quest, in which you’ll find the Map Chamber.

    "Complete

Step 2 – Complete the first Flying Class

Then, you can take your first “Flying Class” on the main lawn of the school. Complete it and finish the two tasks that Madam Kagawa will give you. Once that’s done, just take a lap with Everett Clopton around the designated area.

Step 3 – Visit Spintwitches Sporting Needs

To speed things up, fast travel to Hogsmeade and go to the Spintwitches Sporting Needs (located across Ollivanders). But if you want to travel manually, you’re free to go there on foot too.

Once you’re there, speak to Albie Weeks and browse his collection of flying brooms.

    "Flying

They cost 600 gold, and which one you choose is entirely up to you. There does not seem to be any stat-based difference between them, so you won’t be missing out on anything by getting one and not the other.

Congratulations, you now have a Flying Broom and can use it to your heart’s content.

    "How

How to upgrade your broom in Hogwarts Legacy

To upgrade your broom, you have to visit the Spintwitches Sporting Needs shop again. If none are available, you’ll need to complete a side quest called “Flight Test”. It starts by talking to Mr. Weekes, who tells you to meet Iselda Reyes at the Quidditch Pitch.

Once you meet her, a Time Trial begins and you need to beat Iselda’s record to win. Once that’s done, go to Mr. Weekes and he’ll eventually send you a message (using the Owl Post) that a broom upgrade is ready.

    "hogwarts

The upgrade costs 1000 Gold and you have to play more Time Trials given by Iselda Reyes if you want to upgrade your broom further. Like the first upgrade, you need to talk to Mr. Weekes before you can play the Time Trials by heading over to Iselda.

That’s all that you need to know about getting brooms and upgrading them in Hogwarts Legacy. We hope that you found this guide useful and are already on your way to flying through the magical land of Hogwarts.

Hogwarts Legacy is a game about magic, witches, and wizards.
